A queuing theory model for fog computing

Abstract Under many scenarios where resources may be scarce or a good Quality of Service is requirement, appropriately sizing components and devices one the main challenges. New scenarios, such as IoT, mobile cloud computing, edge computing fog have emerged recently. The ability to design, model simulate those infrastructures critical dimension them correctly. Queuing theory models provide approach understanding how given architecture would behave for set parameters, thus helping detect possible bottlenecks performance issues in advance. This work presents fog-computing modelling framework based on queuing theory. proposed was used scenario allowing possibility adjusting system by means user-defined parameters. results show that tool designing optimal architectures regarding QoS requirements. It can also fine-tune designs improve parameters overall environment.
